Define the complete cable support route
Start with the structural form required by the project: cable ladder, perforated tray, enclosed trunking or wire mesh tray. Treat material, surface finish and accessories as separate selections, rather than assuming that a structural type fixes the whole specification.

| Route and support | Layout drawing, loading requirements, support spacing and mounting conditions for engineering review. |
| Material and finish | Specified steel, stainless steel, aluminum or other material; coating or surface treatment and environmental conditions. |
| Fittings and accessories | Horizontal and vertical bends, tees, crosses, reducers, covers, dividers, joints and supports with quantities. |
Keep performance requirements explicit
If the project requires load testing, corrosion performance, electrical continuity or fire performance, identify the relevant standard and required evidence. A coating name or enclosed shape alone is not a performance certificate.
Align the tray and cable schedules
